Our Chief Security Officer and last in the trinity of owners is Michael Barber. Barber contributes eight years of industry experience across a variety of roles. His specialty and professional passion is cybersecurity, which is quickly becoming a central topic in any discussion regarding technology. Barber’s interest in the details does not end at five o clock. After the high impact security-related tasks and decisions are concluded for the day, he enjoys painting miniatures, gardening, and photography.
What sorts of steps do you take to ensure that customer data security is protected at Automatrix?
“We strive to keep our customers data as secure as possible. To do this we follow all cybersecurity standards listed by the CIS.”
For many people, their greatest exposure to the world of cybersecurity is employer mandated phishing training and data breech notifications. What is something that you think more people should be aware of?
“I think I would just like to highlight this point by adding that only about 5% of is due to exciting reasons, such as malicious actors. 95% of cybersecurity issues (including data breaches) are due to human error, and this is precisely why companies put so much work into educating employees about the more mundane, such as proper password management and identifying phishing emails.”
Photography and miniature painting pair up pretty naturally as hobbies. Does your time gardening intersect at all with your artistic expression?
“Anything can be artistic. Art is all about putting the image in your mind into the real world. I believe if you put your own flair into everything you do, then you’ll always be putting forth your artistic vision.”
